Track #8

Another month flown by. Summer has proven to be the worst season for Mirrorlick's creation ever. The heat makes it nearly impossible to play down in Nathan's basement so there's been many sabbaticals taking place.

New songs down, a cover or two coming in the works. Jack continues to improve at the drums the the dudes are messing with the idea of a new bassist that will hopefully occur. Smiles all around!

The drummer is taking a work week and I'm taking Nate and Wade to Virginia. Although Jack will be there in spirit, there's a chance of a Monday night open mic acoustically at the Jammin' Java in Vienna, Virginia! While I'm visiting family, Wadathan is hopping in mad excitement to wreak some havoc in another state. We'll carry a picture of Jack but this at least lists the first vacation (and out of state venture) of Mirrorlick. We know the drum keeps the beat goin', so next time Jackie boy, promises all around.

New photos coming to the photobucket, I think Wade and Nate are trying to get their sexy across.

Hopefully more music comes in the works.

Track #7

It's been almost a month that's only been practicing and talking about shows. Lots of planning gone up the wazoo. The guys finally play a paying gig this weekend for a friend's party. I forget the number, close to an amount of fiteen finished songs done by them so far.

Mirrorlick was scheduled to go down to Virginia for a mic night at Jammin' Java in Vienna (I have some family down there) but unfortunately due to money issues, Jack and Wade seemingly won't be attending. Nate, being the man that he is, claims he wouldn't mind going up on the mic alone and plugging Mirrorlick regardless.

Hopefully the show this weekend goes well. A blogger special! Enjoy a drunken performance from the guys at a birthday party, recorded by the lovely Christina:

Track #6

Slow week.

Jack's been learning the drums! Surprised the shit out of everyone when he picked up the sticks and mimicked Wade pretty well rhythmically. He's in training to be drummer now but he's already basically good. Good news, that be. On top of that, the guys were thinking about messing with grindcore stuff. A few new songs have been cropping up, looking for shows... same old, same old. They've been on the search for possibilities outside of open mic nights... I think we should drop suggestion boxes around. They haven't jammed since the Exchange (they lost their guitar cables, aaaah) but I think they're just about ready to get back out and swoon some people. Actually, they've all been kind of zombified recently during practices... the warm weather's frying everyone's brain.

I gotta start uploading photos, I'm gonna get yelled at soon by Wade if I don't. Hehe. Kidding. Maybe not.

Track #5

The Exchange went well, at least everyone under the age of 21 was permitted to at least stand inside and watch. The crowd seemed somewhat deterred after the guys blared "Butterfly Pinned Beneath the Glass" but they sounded awesome so forget the quiet bar people. What was sad was "Heroes" getting less claps (only cause it was thought that "Butterfly" was a bit loud for 'em). Otherwise, awesome photos and videos and another performance under their belt.

Woooot.

There's been mass practicing, a little recording and a bunch of writing for new material since then. Wade wanted to try and get a place to play every night. I hope the community car gets fixed eventually or else rides to all these fabled places will be a lot harder to come by.

All 'da videos from the Exchange and stuffs go up eventually.

Track #4

Tavern on the Rocks equaled success, whoooo! Put your hands up in the air. Woot.

Okay, I actually got to see the show more than hear it. I stood outside with a friend, both craning our necks around the heads inside from a window, hearing slips of music through the hinge spaces. Whatever, we could tell what they were doing just from switching off instruments. The band was awesomely recieved (sadly Jack missed the event) and got a good deal of applause, some tears from "This One's For You" and a lot of chatter outside.

Before leaving, they churned out a bunch of demo CDs... which are still on sale for two dollars (JUST two dollars) if annnnyyyone's interested, ahaha. They managed to get a good deal off their hands, actually. This one dude offered them a place to record in his house; soundproof, good equipment, the works! Dunno if they're taking the dude up on his offer but it was certainly a wicked gesture.

We (well, mostly Nate and Wade) heard a bunch of other people play up and talked to a good deal outside. Celebrations were held with champagne and food later when they guys were invited to another open mic at The Exchange in the borough on Monday, April 28th at 9:00! I think it's 21+ again but I'm still excited. So are they but I'm sure everyone guessed that.

Lots of recognition and compliments at Tavern. I remember Wade leaning over and saying, "Do you see this?" epic excited at all the great things being said. And he's right! Mirrorlick's getting out there, dumdumdum!

Media stuffs: Couldn't get footage at Tavern, hoping to get footage at The Exchange! Photobucker's gonna come soon, wooot.

Track #3

The show at Cafe Arabica went off without a hitch or a hinder. Wade, Nate and Jack all lept up there and tore the cafe a new earhole, I imagine. They nailed all their songs to a T and the place roared... I mean, we brought most of the crowd along with us but the feeling was nice. In less than an hour, we're going to be at the Tavern on the Rocks and the dudes are striking for their first paying show. Epic excitement for the win.

Wish I could be filming them but I'm sadly not of age. I'm sure they'll be fab. Speaking of filming, videos from the cafe are up and going! I think they might be a little bit laggy but it still shows their essence. That's what's important.

They're practicing "Wig in a Box" from Henry and the Angry Inch downstairs. I think their songs tonight are the same as Arabica: "This One's for You", "You and Me" and "Starting Over". I think they're doing "Butterfly Pinned Beneath the Glass". As an added bonus, they're throwing on a cover of Bowie's "Heroes"! I'm really sad I'm missing that one being thrown out for the first time on stage. I think the goblin king would be pleased, haha.

Wish 'em luck!

Track #2

Everyone's taking it easy before the mic night on Tuesday. Wade and Nate got together a few times to jam it out and when Jack comes about they all brainstorm together. Nothing new otherwise, really. I think the real excitement is going to be on Wednesday when the manager smacks them with a gig for rocking so well.

Uh, media shit though. Mirrorlick youtube is up now, linked from here and sooner or later a photobucket is gonna rise up. Epically fun stuff.
